AIGI 20 Extremely High-Temperature Packing

AIGI 20 is an extreme high-temperature gland packing braided from ceramic fibre together with corrosion-resistant thin metal wire. It combines outstanding thermal insulation with a rare ability to resist molten aluminium, chromium and other non-ferrous metals.

Product Benefits

  • Survives extreme heat: Very few packings survive genuinely extreme heat, and fewer still shrug off contact with molten non-ferrous metals. AIGI 20 does both.
  • Ceramic-plus-wire build: The ceramic fibre delivers the temperature capability and insulation, while the braided-in metal wire reinforces the packing so it holds together in punishing service.
  • Beyond carbon and PTFE: For static sealing at temperatures far beyond the reach of carbon or PTFE-based packings, it is the straightforward choice.
  • Wide media tolerance: It tolerates a wide range of media from acidic to alkaline.

Where It's Used

  • Hot static joints: Typical duties are static, hot ones: hot-air pipe flanges, oven and chimney doors, combustion chambers and boilers.
  • Furnaces and covers: It also seals tunnel furnaces, container doors, manhole covers and high-temperature flanges.
  • Durable insulating seal: It serves wherever plants need a durable, insulating seal on hot static joints.

Good to Know

  • Static duties only: AIGI 20 is supplied in white and is built for static sealing duties rather than rotating shafts, with pressure capability suited to low-pressure hot services.
  • Wire keeps its shape: The wire reinforcement is what lets the ceramic fibre keep its shape through repeated thermal cycling.
  • Match joint temperature: When selecting, match the packing to the joint temperature and keep in mind that its strength is heat and molten-metal resistance.
  • Dynamic services elsewhere: For high-pressure dynamic services, a carbon-fibre packing from the AIGI range is the better tool.
