AIGI 23 Abrasion-Resistant PTFE/Aramid Packing
AIGI 23 is a braided PTFE-fibre packing reinforced with high-strength aramid fibre at the corners. The combination pairs the self-lubricating slipperiness of PTFE with the toughness of aramid, giving excellent flexibility and abrasion resistance. It is made for aggressive slurry and high-abrasive pump service.
Product Benefits
- Balanced construction: In abrasive media, soft packings wear out quickly and hard packings wear out the shaft. AIGI 23 splits the difference between the two.
- Aramid-armoured corners: Aramid corners take the abrasive punishment where the braid works hardest, while the PTFE body stays flexible and self-lubricating for good sealability.
- Shaft-friendly lubricant: A PTFE lubricant applied after braiding significantly reduces the shaft wear normally associated with aramid packings.
- Long life in dirty service: The result is long packing life in dirty service without sacrificing the shaft sleeve.
Where It's Used
- Slurry and abrasive pumps: AIGI 23 is designed for slurry and abrasive pumps handling media with high solids content.
- Heavy-industry homes: Typical industries include mining, power, sewerage, and pulp and paper plants.
- Beats gritty fluids: It earns its place wherever gritty process fluids chew through ordinary packing.
Good to Know
- Yellow-and-white braid: The braid's two-tone appearance reflects its two fibres, and it handles moderately acidic through alkaline media rather than pH extremes.
- Generous temperature range: Temperature capability is generous for a slurry packing thanks to the PTFE and aramid construction.
- Silicone-core variants: For stuffing boxes with pronounced radial motion or vibration, the same construction is available with resilient silicone-rubber cores: single-core AIGI 23SC and multi-core AIGI 23MSC.
- Standard choice: Plain AIGI 23 is the standard pick where shaft motion is normal.
