AIGI 24 High-Temperature Pump Packing

AIGI 24 is a pump packing braided from a heat-resistant, high-carbon-content fibre and dipped in special lubricants. The lubricants allow faster pump start-up and better sealability, while the fibre's extreme heat dissipation and low friction mean the packing will not burn. It is purpose-built for high-temperature, high-speed pump service.

  • Survives dry start-up: Start-up is when packings suffer most: faces run dry and heat builds before the process fluid takes over.
  • Dipped lubricants: AIGI 24's dipped lubricants carry it through start-up faster and seal better from the first turn of the shaft.
  • Will not burn: Unlike traditional carbon-fibre packings, AIGI 24 will not burn, thanks to its extreme heat dissipation and low-friction properties.
  • Very wide pH tolerance: Covering strongly acidic through strongly alkaline media, it handles duties that scorch or dissolve lesser packings.

  • Hot, fast pumps: AIGI 24 is designed for high-temperature and high-speed pumps.
  • Wide equipment range: It also serves agitators, mixers, condensate pumps, boiler feed pumps and vacuum pumps.
  • Core industries: Power, metals processing and pulp and paper are its core industries.
  • Pulp and paper machines: In mills it suits refiners, stock pumps and pulpers: hot, fast, hard-working machines where packing failures are costly.

Good to Know

  • Steam versus oxygen: The black carbon-fibre braid tolerates extremely high temperatures in steam service; in oxygen service the allowable temperature is considerably lower, so state the medium when selecting.
  • High pressure and speed: Pressure and shaft-speed capability are both high for a braided packing.
  • Through-body lubrication: The special lubricants are applied by dipping rather than surface coating, so the lubrication is carried through the packing body.
  • Installation matters: As always with high-duty packings, correct ring sizing and gland practice determine how much of that capability is realised in service.
