AIGI 28 Universal Pump/Valve Packing
AIGI 28 is an interbraided packing made from carbon-fibre-reinforced flexible-graphite yarn. It is self-lubricating and highly conformable, giving excellent leakage control in pumps and dependable, chemically resistant sealing in valves. One packing thus covers water, steam and chemical duties across both rotating and static equipment.

- Water, steam and chemicals: Typical media are water, steam and chemicals, which makes it at home in boiler houses, utility systems and chemical process plants alike.
- One standard packing: It offers a convenient way to standardise one packing across both equipment types.
Good to Know
- Pressure varies by duty: Its pressure capability differs markedly by duty: highest in valves, intermediate in reciprocating service, and more moderate in rotary pump service. That is normal behaviour for graphite packings and worth remembering at selection time.
- Marks the media: The packing is black and, like all graphite products, will mark the media it touches, so it is not the choice where colour purity matters.
- Step-up option: For still hotter, higher-pressure valve duty, the nickel-wire-reinforced AIGI 29 is the step up within the same family.
- Run-in for pumps: In pumps, a gentle run-in with the gland lightly loaded lets the graphite establish its film and maximises life.
