AIGI 522-PU Composite Rotary Seal
The AIGI 522-PU is a molded composite-material rotary seal made of polyurethane, the largest-bore member of AIGI's 522 composite series. It protects slow-turning, large-diameter equipment such as big bearings, gearboxes, fans and motors.
Product Benefits
- Widest diameter reach: When the equipment is very large and turns slowly, the 522-PU offers the widest diameter reach in the series.
- Molded, not improvised: Even exceptionally big bores can be sealed with a molded part rather than an improvised solution.
- Best runout acceptance: It accepts the most shaft runout of the composite family, a real advantage on heavy machines whose shafts rarely run perfectly true.
Where It's Used
- Big bearings and gearboxes: Its home ground is large-diameter bearings, gearboxes, fans and motors.
- Modest operating speeds: These machines operate at modest speeds.
- Retention over speed: They are duties where retaining lubricant and excluding dust matter more than outright speed capability.
Good to Know
- Moderate temperature, low speed: The polyurethane compound suits a moderate temperature window and low shaft speeds.
- Faster duties need 522-N: Where the shaft runs faster or hotter, the NBR-based 522-N is the better pick within the same series.
- One-piece installation: Like the 522-N it is a one-piece seal, so plan installation for a machine that can be opened, or consider AIGI's split 522S designs when it cannot.
