Alfa Laval
AXPM High-Pressure Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger
The Alfa Laval AXPM is a high-pressure copper-brazed plate heat exchanger engineered for air-conditioning and refrigeration systems with extremely high pressure requirements. Thin external carbon steel frames reinforce the compact, gasket-free unit, making it particularly well suited to CO2 duties such as transcritical gas cooling.
Product Benefits
- Built for extreme pressure: The AXPM answers a specific problem: how to keep the compactness and efficiency of brazed plate technology when system pressures climb far beyond what standard units are built for.
- External frame carries the load: The frame reinforcement takes the pressure load, so the exchanger remains small and light.
- No gaskets to limit life: The unit is free of gaskets that would otherwise limit service life.
- Even evaporator performance: It can be supplied with a refrigerant distribution system for even performance in evaporator-style duties.
- Simple rigging: Every unit is delivered with lifting lugs to simplify rigging and installation.
Where It's Used
- Air conditioning and refrigeration: This is the natural home of the AXPM.
- CO2 transcritical gas cooling: It is used above all in CO2 systems, where transcritical gas cooling pushes operating pressures to extremes.
- Sustainable refrigeration plants: That makes it a fit for plants moving to CO2 as a sustainable working fluid.
Good to Know
- Materials: Stainless steel plates are joined by copper brazing, with a zinc-electroplated carbon steel external frame.
- Connections and vacuum: Connections come as external thread, soldering or welding, and the design tolerates full vacuum.
- Approvals: Approvals cover PED and UL.
- Sealed unit: Like all brazed exchangers it is a sealed unit, so fluid cleanliness and filtration are the key to long service.
- Matched to the duty: The design is matched closely to the duty, so discuss your pressure and capacity requirements when selecting.
