Pure-Flo Tank Bottom Valve

The Pure-Flo Tank Bottom Valve is a hygienic diaphragm valve that mounts flush at the base of a tank, vessel or bioreactor for draining and sampling. Its patented design minimizes the interior sump and eliminates the dead-leg where bacteria or other microorganisms could otherwise be entrapped.

Product Benefits

  • The vessel's weak spot: The lowest point of a vessel is where cleaning problems concentrate: any pocket or stub of piping below the tank floor is a place where product can linger and microorganisms can take hold.
  • Flush mounting: By mounting flush at the vessel base, the tank bottom valve removes that dead-leg entirely and keeps the interior sump as small as possible.
  • Drains and cleans fully: The result is a drain and sample point that supports complete drainage and effective cleaning and sterilization.
  • A real aseptic barrier: It is a genuine aseptic barrier at the most vulnerable spot of the vessel, rather than a compromise bolted underneath it.

Where It's Used

  • Tank and vessel bases: Its home is the bottom of tanks and vessels in hygienic processing.
  • Bioreactor barrier: Creating an aseptic barrier around bioreactors is a signature application.
  • Draining and sampling: It serves both routine draining and the taking of representative samples directly from the vessel contents.
  • Clean-in-place vessels: Any process that cleans and sterilizes vessels in place, and cannot tolerate entrapment zones below the tank floor, is a candidate for this style of valve.

Good to Know

  • Wrought 316L body: Tank bottom valves come standard with a wrought body machined from 316L stainless alloy, a construction chosen for hygienic surface quality.
  • Hygienic connections: A range of hygienic end connections is available, including OD gauge tubing ends and ISO, SMS and DIN styles.
  • Specify with the vessel: The valve is welded or fitted into the vessel base, so it should be specified together with the vessel design rather than as an afterthought.
  • Geometry does the work: The flush mounting geometry is what delivers the dead-leg-free performance, and the design is protected by a US patent.
