NM 3171 Non-Metallic Vertical Process Pumps

The NM 3171 from ITT Goulds Pumps is a non-metallic vertical sump and process pump for severe corrosive services. With a casing and impeller molded from high-strength, corrosion-resistant GMP-2000, it offers a cost-effective alternative to pumps built from expensive high alloys.

Product Benefits

  • Beats the alloy dilemma: Acids, seawater and metal-finishing wastes force a choice between exotic alloys and frequent pump replacement. The NM 3171 sidesteps both.
  • GMP-2000 wetted parts: Its molded GMP-2000 wetted parts shrug off media that attack metal, at a price well below high-alloy construction.
  • Proven hydraulics: The hydraulics duplicate the Goulds Model NM 3196 horizontal pump, so performance is predictable and proven.
  • Corrosion-proof structure: Corrosion-resistant Rulon column bearings and a high-strength FRP column and mounting plate carry the same corrosion philosophy through the whole wetted structure.

Where It's Used

  • Listed services: Applications include coal pile runoff, demineralized water, pollution control and general sump duties.
  • Aggressive liquids: These are services where the liquid is aggressive enough to eat ordinary metal pumps.
  • Corrosive pit drainage: It is the natural pick for corrosive pit drainage around chemical handling and environmental systems.

Good to Know

  • Adjustable open impeller: The pump uses a fully open impeller with external impeller adjustment on a heavy-duty one-piece solid shaft.
  • Fume containment: Vapor-seal construction with a Teflon U-cup and Viton O-ring keeps fumes contained.
  • Shaft and flange options: The discharge flange is FRP, and an oversized shaft is available in 316 stainless steel, Alloy 20, Hastelloy B & C or Titanium for chemically severe duties.
  • Moderate temperatures: As a non-metallic design it is intended for moderate temperatures, so check the service temperature during selection.
