ITT Goulds Pumps
3175 Paper Stock / Process Pumps
The Goulds 3175 is a heavy-duty paper stock and process pump built for the toughest jobs in the pulp and paper industry. Its fully open impeller and renewable wear parts let it handle thick fibrous stock, black liquor, and abrasive slurries that would quickly defeat a general-purpose process pump.
Product Benefits
- Open-passage impeller: The fully open, warped-vane impeller gives fibrous and abrasive material a clear path through the pump, while back pump-out vanes reduce pressure at the sealing area.
- In-place wear adjustment: External impeller adjustment restores performance in place as wear accumulates, with no teardown needed, and renewable wear parts keep the casing itself out of the wear equation.
- Sealing flexibility: Options include packing, mechanical seals, an optional TaperBore seal chamber, or a Dynamic Seal that requires no external seal water.
- No seal water needed: The Dynamic Seal option matters in mills where seal water is scarce, expensive, or would dilute the process.
Where It's Used
- Paper stock duties: The 3175 handles paper stock up to medium consistencies as well as black liquor, hydropulper and broke service, and digester circulation.
- Mill transfer services: It covers blow-tank-to-screens transfer, chlorine-tower-to-washer duty, and evaporator and reboiler circulation.
- Abrasive slurries: It also serves general abrasive slurry duties across the mill.
Good to Know
- Stocked and alloy materials: The pump is stocked in cast iron and stainless steel, and available in a wide range of higher alloys (including Alloy 20, duplex grades, high-moly stainless, Titanium, and Hastelloy) to match corrosive liquor chemistry.
- Dual-volute large sizes: Larger sizes use a dual-volute casing to balance radial loads.
- Maintenance-friendly layout: The back pull-out design with vertical centerline discharge simplifies both piping and maintenance access.
- Share duty details: The consistency of the stock and the abrasive content of the liquid drive the impeller clearance and material choices, so share those details when requesting a selection.
