ITT Goulds Pumps
3298 V Chemical Process Pumps
The Goulds V 3298 is the vertical in-line version of the ETFE-lined, magnetically driven sealless 3298 chemical process pump. It mounts directly in the pipeline like a valve, moving moderate to severe corrosives with zero leakage while taking up almost no floor space.
Product Benefits
- In-line installation: Installing in-line eliminates the baseplate, the foundation work and the field alignment that a horizontal pump demands, a genuine saving in crowded chemical areas.
- Submerged thrust bearing: The vertical layout keeps the front thrust bearing submerged in the pumpage, adding a margin of protection during brief dry-run events, and the casing is self-venting.
- Zero emissions: As a sealless magnetic-drive pump it has no mechanical seal to leak or maintain, achieving zero emissions and meeting the strictest environmental regulations.
- Synchronous magnetic drive: The rare-earth magnet coupling is a non-slip synchronous drive, so the impeller always turns at motor speed.
Where It's Used
- Everyday corrosives: Typical fluids include sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide, sodium sulfate and sulfuric acid, the everyday corrosives of bleaching and chemical preparation.
- Typical processes: Common duties are rail car and tank unloading, batch chemical work, specialty chemicals, column reflux or bottoms, and reactor feed.
- Small footprint: Fluindo supplies the V 3298 for the pulp and paper industry, where its small footprint suits congested chemical-handling areas.
Good to Know
- Corrosion-resistant construction: The one-piece ductile iron casing carries a thick ETFE rotolining backed by glass-reinforced vinylester, the enclosed impeller is solid ETFE, and the impeller runs on a stationary silicon carbide shaft, a combination chosen for corrosion and wear resistance.
- Generous pressure margin: The containment boundary is engineered with a generous pressure margin.
- Family interchangeability: It follows ANSI dimensional standards and shares parts with the horizontal 3298 and the self-priming SP 3298, everything except the casing. Mills already running the 3298 family can add the vertical version with minimal new spares.
