ITT Goulds Pumps
SP 3298 Lined Magnetically Driven Self-Priming Process Pump
The Goulds SP 3298 is the self-priming version of the ETFE-lined, magnetically driven sealless 3298 chemical process pump. It lifts corrosive liquids from below without foot valves or priming aids, and moves them with zero leakage.
Product Benefits
- Priming without extras: Self-priming duty usually means extra hardware (internal check valves or an external gooseneck) that becomes its own maintenance problem in corrosive service. The SP 3298 primes with none of that.
- Smart casing design: A one-piece casing with a volute insert retains just enough liquid to re-prime while limiting temperature rise during the priming cycle.
- No mechanical seal: Because it is sealless, there is no mechanical seal to leak, flush or replace; the magnetic drive delivers zero emissions and meets the strictest environmental regulations.
- Corrosion-proof lining: The ETFE lining handles moderate to severe corrosives that would destroy an unlined self-primer.
Where It's Used
- Suction-lift duties: Its natural home is anywhere the liquid starts below the pump: rail car and tank unloading, batch chemical processes, specialty chemicals, column reflux or bottoms, and reactor feed.
- Typical fluids: Common pumpage includes sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide, sodium sulfate and sulfuric acid.
- Chemical unloading: Fluindo supplies the SP 3298 for the pulp and paper industry, especially for chemical unloading and transfer around the bleach plant and chemical storage areas.
Good to Know
- Family construction: Construction mirrors the rest of the family: a one-piece ductile iron casing with a thick ETFE rotolining backed by glass-reinforced vinylester, a solid ETFE enclosed impeller, and a stationary silicon carbide shaft.
- Synchronous drive: The rare-earth magnetic coupling is a non-slip synchronous drive.
- Few unique spares: The SP 3298 is fully interchangeable with the 3298 and V 3298 except for the casing, volute insert and backplate, so a mill running the family carries few unique spares.
- Conventional installation: ANSI dimensional standards keep installation conventional.
