ITT Goulds Pumps
VIS Vertical Industrial Submersible Pumps
The VIS from ITT Goulds Pumps is a vertical industrial submersible turbine pump in which the complete unit, bowl assembly and motor together, is installed underground. It is the answer for deep-set applications where a conventional lineshaft pump becomes impractical.
Product Benefits
- Lineshaft complexity removed: As settings get deeper, lineshaft pumps accumulate shaft sections, bearings and lubrication needs; a submersible motor removes all of that at a stroke.
- No lubrication or alignment: The VIS requires no lubrication and no shaft alignment.
- Quiet and space-saving: It runs quietly because the motor is underwater, and saves surface space since there is no motor stand above the discharge head.
- Low-maintenance longevity: The result is long service life with low maintenance in duties where pulling and re-aligning a long lineshaft would be a recurring cost.
Where It's Used
- Pulp and paper mills: Fluindo supplies the VIS for pulp & paper mills.
- Typical duties: Services include service water, raw water lift and deep-well pumping.
- Deep, quiet installations: It suits any installation where the water level sits far below grade and quiet, unobtrusive operation is valued.
Good to Know
- Shared bowl assembly: The VIS shares the common Goulds vertical turbine bowl assembly with the VIT and VIC lines, so hydraulic coverage is broad and the diffuser-type bowls can be multi-staged to build the required head.
- Construction details: Impellers are semi-open or enclosed, a heavy-duty stainless pump shaft is standard, alloy bowl options are available, and the unit draws through a screened suction.
- Selection checklist: Because the motor is submerged, motor cooling and well conditions belong on the selection checklist.
