Lift Check Valve
The SLV Lift Check Valve is a flanged, self-acting non-return valve whose guided disc lifts under forward flow and reseats the instant flow reverses. It protects pumps, boilers and piping in horizontal lines without any external power or operator action.

Where It's Used
- Pump discharge lines: Typical installations are on the discharge side of pumps.
- Water, steam and process: It also serves water, steam and general process lines where reverse flow would damage equipment or upset the process.
- Horizontal runs: It is intended for horizontal pipe runs, where the guided disc can lift vertically off the seat.
Good to Know
- Tighter than swing types: Lift check valves seal more tightly than most swing designs because the disc lands squarely on its seat.
- Slightly higher pressure drop: The flow must turn through the body, so they impose a somewhat higher pressure drop.
- Orientation matters: They depend on gravity to close, so install them in horizontal lines as intended.
- Size for full lift: Sizing the valve so the disc is held fully open at normal flow reduces chatter and seat wear.
- Refurbishable seat: The hard-faced seat can be restored at overhaul, keeping the valve in service economically for a long time.
