Triple Eccentric Butterfly Valve

The SLV Triple Eccentric Butterfly Valve is a metal-seated, triple-offset valve built for critical isolation where soft-seated valves cannot survive. Its torque-seated, cam-like closing action delivers zero-leakage shutoff across a very wide temperature range, from cryogenic to high-temperature service.

Product Benefits

  • Contact only at closure: The triple-offset geometry means the seat and disc only touch at the moment of closure, so there is no rubbing or wiping during travel.
  • No concentric-valve wear: That eliminates the wear mechanism of concentric valves and gives long, repeatable sealing life even under frequent cycling.
  • Zero-leakage metal seal: Because the seal is metal-to-metal and torque-seated, the valve shuts off without relying on elastomers or PTFE.
  • Suits severe media: That metal seal is what allows the valve to handle high temperatures, steam and harsh services.
  • Verified to standards: Sealing performance is verified to API 609 and ISO 5208, and a fire-safe design to API 607 is part of the specification.

Where It's Used

  • Critical block valves: Typical duties are critical block valves in high-temperature, high-pressure or otherwise severe services.
  • Heavy industry services: It works on steam systems, hot gases, thermal fluids and demanding process isolation in energy, chemical and general heavy industry.
  • Cryogenic duty too: It is also applied at the cold end of the spectrum, where resilient seats would become brittle.
  • Wide size and drive range: Wafer, lug and flanged body styles cover a broad span of line sizes, and the same valve can be operated by handle, handwheel, pneumatic, electric or hydraulic actuation depending on how the plant is run.

Good to Know

  • Material options: Bodies and discs come in carbon steel and several cast stainless grades, with stem materials selected for strength.
  • Seat constructions: Seats range from solid metal and alloy to a laminated stainless-steel-and-graphite construction that combines metal durability with a degree of resilience.
  • ISO 5211 mounting: The actuator mounting follows ISO 5211, which simplifies fitting or swapping actuators later.
  • Torque setting matters: A triple-offset valve seals by applying closing torque, so correct actuator sizing and torque setting matter more than with soft-seated designs.
  • Alternative to gate and globe: Choose the seat construction to suit the medium and temperature profile, and it will serve as a genuine alternative to gate or globe valves in many isolation duties, with less weight and a smaller footprint.
